You'll have to live with running the game in the smallest resolution your monitor will support. Skyrim has setting for trees - something about skinned trees and self shadows - that you'll want to turn off if it's in there.
Things like ambient occlusion will have to go. Those are your biggest enemies on a low end PC.Īnti-aliasing will have to go, or be at the very weakest setting. You'll want to nuke shadows and grass everywhere. Skyrim, for example, looks awful, but it runs smooth. I play these games on a weak PC fairly smoothly, but it took work and it took ugly trade offs.
The majority is relevant to Skyrim too and will probably carry over to FO 4. The guide at gives you most of what you need to know (at least for the older games).
